Cole Dine – Artist & Producer

  • Artist Bio

Cole Dine is a multifaceted musician, producer, and engineer based in Vancouver B.C. Canada. Born on Pender Island in the Salish Sea, Cole was raised in a musical family and supported by the island's rich artistic community. His journey began at age five with the fiddle, leading to performances in Boston and Finland. At fifteen, he discovered guitar and songwriting, eventually releasing his debut album, Better Man, at seventeen.

Cole's passion for production led him to study at Nimbus School of Recording and Media in Vancouver, where he earned a Diploma in Advanced Music Production and Engineering. His experiences with the band 29 East, including recording their EP "29E," have profoundly influenced his approach to engineering and production.

Drawing inspiration from artists like Ben Howard, Michael Kiwanuka, and The Milk Carton Kids, Cole crafts music that evokes nostalgia and authenticity. His work blends acoustic instrumentation with meaningful lyrics, creating a timeless listening experience.

  • Genre

Cole Dine’s music is often described as a blend of indie folk, acoustic, and soul, with elements of alternative rock and blues weaving through his sound. His genre-defying style combines rich storytelling with an organic mix of stripped-back acoustic arrangements and layered production, allowing his songs to resonate on both an emotional and sonic level.

    Indie Folk & Acoustic Roots

At the core of Cole’s music is a deep-rooted connection to indie folk and acoustic traditions. Drawing from artists like Ben Howard, Andy Shauf, and The Milk Carton Kids, his music often features soulful, fingerpicked guitar lines, vulnerable vocals, and storytelling lyrics that capture both personal introspection and universal themes of love, loss, and growth. His early work, such as the debut album Better Man, reflects these acoustic foundations, with heartfelt ballads and minimalistic instrumentation that highlight the raw emotion of his lyrics.

    Soul & Alternative Influence

As Cole’s sound has evolved, elements of soul and alternative rock have started to seep into his music. His recent tracks, such as “Numb” blend acoustic roots with more expansive, polished production. These songs are imbued with a warm, soulful quality that mirrors artists like Michael Kiwanuka and Matt Corby. The inclusion of smooth vocal harmonies, deeper rhythmic grooves, and atmospheric arrangements gives his music a more contemporary edge while maintaining the intimacy of his acoustic roots.

29 East’s debut EP “29e,” an Alt-Rock Funk extravaganza. Catchy hooks, infectious grooves, and flirty lyrics. 29 East's debut EP is the band's final form, drawing from each member's unique musical influence to create their most mature and cohesive work yet.

29E

Quick Love

Arguably 29 East's cheekiest single. "Quick Love" is fun and effortlessly funky. It's giving, garage funk.

9 to 5

29 East's first-ever single. Unfortunately, not a Dolly Parton cover, but an anthem nonetheless. With Cole taking the lead in this track, a warm comfort wraps around this track, leaning more towards lyrics and songwriting than funk and rock.

Numb X Apathetic

Cole takes a leap into soul and R&B with these groove-heavy tracks. Electric guitar, keys, and tasty saxophone highlight the understated but effortless vocals. These tracks definitely diverge from Cole's previous work, but the through line of imaginative lyrics and infectious melodies ties these tracks to the rest of his works.

Lady Love

"Lady Love" Speaks to the struggle every artist experiences when it comes to the Muse. Full of emotion and gut, this track is raw and unapologetic.

Feel A Little Love

Fun and light-hearted "Feel a Little Love" is a simple message intended to act as a simple reminder to give yourself to the moment and enjoy the small joys in life.

Around Again

Whimsy and youthful romance meet elegant devotion and earnest optimism. "Around Again" is another installment of honest vulnerability Cole confesses a hopeful desire to be loved and to devote himself to love.
